All done!

After what seems like a never ending journey I have finally pulled together my project. I think the most difficult part was just getting started. I had all my ideas laid out and ready to execute but I just didn't want to put it on the paper because I was scared I wouldn't be able to fulfill my vision to its fullest potential. It was after I finally took my photos, when I had no choice but to begin creating. It forced me to find the right website for me. Even though I originally said I was going to use Madmagz to make my magazine again it didn't have the features I needed to make what I was envisioning. After hours, no lie, hours and this absolute saint of a YouTube video I finally figured out that Google docs, yes google docs, is the best way to make a magazine. It's actually not google docs its the presentation feature but regardless finally I found a website that allowed me to create the way I wanted to. The writing was a breeze for me, it was the design that took me forever. Although I changed some things, I for the most part stuck to sketches. However, I am an absolute perfectionist and if even one little thing was visually off I would literally stare at it until I could figure out what was wrong with it. All and all I am so happy how my magazine turned out and I hope you can see how much effort, time, and passion I put into creating it. I hope I can use that same will power to make an awesome CCR.

Until next time!

Home stretch

SO,
after two hours of waiting the game finally ended and I finally got to take my pictures! I was so worried in my last posts that it would be pitch dark out and I would need flash and all those features but I totally forgot that of course they have park lights (how would the boys be able to see the small baseball if they had to play in the dark)! The park lights were so bright it was actually a little too much light but we worked around it. So I had started with my model, Tyler, on home plate. My partner and I thought it would be cool if we could have the same cover but with two different sports. So on hers she had her model for water polo hold the ball in front of half his face, so I had Tyler hold the bat in front of half his face to try to recreate the same effect. It turned out cute, however there were better photos I took afterwards.

After we took those photos we went out to the outfield to take the much anticipated fly ball candid. At first I tried to toss the ball and take the pictures at the same time but they kept coming out very shaky because obviously I was moving. Another boy from the team came over to help, and although I was holding the camera straight the photos did not come out as planned. They were blurry and lacked the professionalism I was going for.

Finally we went back to the infield where we took some pictures on first base. These came out perfect. As you can see Tyler looks focused and ready to play. The shot is clear, and you can see his features unlike the candid above. I am making this photo my cover.

Game time

What a night!

I purposely left my house around 7:15 thinking that because the game started at 6:30  it would be mostly over by the time I finally got there because I really just needed individual photos of one of the players. When I got there and saw on the scoreboard they were only in the bottom of the third I knew I was in for a long night of waiting.
On the flip side all that extra time I had gave me a perfect opportunity to talk to Mr. Liotti, the Cypress Bay coach, about his daughter's foundation which as I said in earlier posts I am doing my double page spread on. Although he was busy, he graciously answered all my questions. Not only is he passionate about the foundation and all it has to offer but he sees the value of incorporating sports into it.Emphasizing that through the joint effort of the community, we can do more. Highlighting my whole purpose for choosing to do a sports magazine in the first place, it builds the foundation of our country.

Progress

Me again!

FINALLY I am going to take my photos. The team has a game tomorrow at six on their home field. So it's an easy drive for me and of course home field advantage. Before I go to the game I am going to go to Regional park to take my photos of the baseball field for my table of contents while it's still light out. Tomorrow will also be a perfect opportunity to interview Mr. Liotti, the Cypress coach, for my double page spread.

Some questions I would like to ask him are:

1. Whose idea was the foundation?

2. What is the best part of the foundation?

3. What upcoming things do you have planned for it?

4. Why did you decide to incorporate your baseball team with it?

I'll keep you guys updated how the pictures turn out tomorrow!

Mild confusion

So I've been thinking.

When I do actually take my photos, if I ever do, because every time I plan a day to take them something comes up, I really don't know how I want them to look anymore. I had this initial vision of it being mid day bright and sunny yet I neglect to acknowledge that most of the baseball games are played later into the day, usually at night, to escape the blistering heat of good old Florida. So I was originally going to take it with my partner's Canon but since I know nothing about cameras I questioned to myself if there is even flash on those types of cameras since apparently it is going to be dark out when I take the photos and I don't want them to come out blurry. So yes, I did research on whether canons have flash or not and of course most if not all do. However clearly I don't use those types of cameras and therefore I have been leaning more towards just using my Iphone camera instead. I just got the Iphone 6s a few months ago so it is relativity new and according to Apple it has many upgraded features especially in the photo department. The rear facing camera now has a twelve megapixel Isight camera which enables many attributes. It comprises features such as burst mode (for the perfect action shot), set focus and exposure, and more listed here. Thus I have concluded that I will bring the canon just to see how it works, but most likely use my Iphone.
